Kanamo Peak Trek in Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh

Trek to the one of the spellbinding “Kanamo Peak”. It lies amidst high ridges at an altitude of 5964 meters. Kanamo means ‘White Lady’. This peak can be approached and does not require any mountaineering skills and can be climbed properly if one is acclimatized.

Will there be electricity in Kanmo peak

Let me tell you that there is no electricity in the Kanamo peak trek. Here we use Stobe Light and or Solar Light, candal light at the nights

If you come on this trek, then you should bring your own head light and your camera with full charge, if possible, it would be good to bring extra battery backup, and also bring the phone after full charge, today people most of the phone use the same.

Day 1 : Pickup to you from Manali Bus Stand and drive to Kibber village

Himalayan Hikers will pick up the trekkers from Manali Bus Stand and leave Kibber village morning at around 6:00 to 7:00 am.

Start your day with a fresh mind. You will take you by the road to Spiti from Manali. There is always a possibility of getting caught up in traffic snags on this otherwise beautiful road especially around Rohtang Pass from where a spectacular view of could be found. See the spectacular view of the mountains. You won’t be disappointed. On reaching Gramphu, you would be directed towards Kaza road leading to our first stop.

Kibber situated at an altitude of 14,108 feet. Boarding here will be provided at a guest house in the village neighborhood. Z The rest of the day could be spent exploring cultural sites in and around. The ancient Key Gompa is situated in Kaza. Explore the famous monasteries like Key Monastery and enjoy the terrific view of the arid mountains and charisma of the culture.

Day 2 : Acclimatization at Kibber

To prepare you for the heights, this day will be kept for acclimatization in Kibber situated at an altitude of 14,108 ft.


Day 3 : Trek from Kibber village to Kanamo Base Camp

 Trek Distance – 05 km -5/6 Hours)

 Mode of journey – By foot

 Altitude – 4800 meters

 Night Stay – Our – on twin share basis

Today will be a challenging day. You will be awestruck by the desert valley of Kibber. Continuous ascent for the first 3 hours will be followed by a slow descent on a total 6-7 hour trek. The trail goes through a number of small villages with flourishing harvest fields and a couple of mountain lakes which are the main source of water in Kaza town. The path is filled with a variety of flowers among which the beautiful Brahma Kamal deserves a special mention. At the height of 15,748 feet in the Kanamo Peak base camp, close to the Kanamo Lake, you will be resting for the night.



Day 4 : Acclimatization at Kanamo base camp

To prepare you for the heights, this day will be kept for acclimatization enjoy the beautiful camp site


Day 5 : Trek from Kanamo Base Camp to Kanamo Peak Summit 5964 meters)

 Trek Distance – 16 km (8/9 hours)

 Mode of journey – by foot

 Altitude – Kanamo peak – 5964 meters

 Night Stay – Our Camp site – on twin share basis

Today is the day as you will be conquering Kanamo peak and the ascent summit-ward will begin at the break of dawn as the sky slowly comes to light and the mountain ranges all around emerge from the darkness.

Loose stone chips fill up the whole trail and in the last phase snow will be found. In this scenario, stepping with a firm toehold is very important; the trick is to take large and careful steps. Get ready for some adrenaline rush as there will be sheer ascent and relaxing glat walk Avoid falling with support from your trek guide. In the ascent of 7 hour, the last 3-hour stretch will be a snow climb. You will find a surface of scree and snow and as you go higher up, the snow will deepen.

Witness the spell binding view of the Greater Himalayas from the Kanamo Top. The entire Lahaul and Spiti can be seen along with the renowned passes Parang La, Pin Parvati at a distance. Get ready for a spellbinding view of the Greater Himalayas from Kanamo top. To the back of Kanamo you will find a massive glacier and snow on the nearby peaks.



Day 6 : Trek from Kanamo Base camp to Kibber Village

 Trek Distance –05 km (hour’s journey)

 Mode of journey – By foot

 Altitude – 4300 meters

 Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

Form Kanamo Base Camp head towards Kibber, the trek is going to be beautiful today. Ahead lies Spiti valley with magnificent mountain views.

You can reach Kibber in the afternoon, have your lunch and we will arrange a home stay.

Day 7 : Drive Kibber village to Manali

 Trek Distance –215 km (8/9 Hours)

 Mode of journey – By Taxi

Get to witness the gorgeous mountains going by the same route starting at 7 AM. After breakfast you’ll reach Manali between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm. You can book your travel any time after 7:30 pm

Kanamo peak trek is not very difficult this is high altitude trek , this trek comes in a moderate and difficult level,  I myself have done this trek sometimes with me, people who are trekking for the first time, we have done the entire trek, they used to need help somewhere, which we and our team used to help.

This trek is a bit difficult, but if your fitness is good and you have it in your mind that I want to trek then you can do it absolutely. Where help is needed, our guides will support you, you just have to be strong and capable of the trek. One thing is that all you can do is to have courage and I myself am passionate.

Winter Season

  1. Kanamo peak trek is not in winter trek , the right time to do this trek is from June to last week of October only
  2. It snows around 6 to 8 feet in the winter season and it can be very risky to go here

In June, July, August  you get a combination of both greenery and snow, which makes the trek very spectacular. The weather in June is quite good and trek friendly, which makes trekking a lot of fun.

During the day the temperature of Kanamo peak trek is around ( 5°C to 10 °C  and during the night the temperature comes down to -1 °C  to -2 °C  which is not bad.

Delhi is the only airport for you here, from where there is a direct flight, manali  is just 51 km from Bhuntar airport, from where you can come comfortably by taxi and it will take you about 1 hour to reach manali. . manali can be reached through excellent road facility. Yes it does take time but it is also very good NH-3 is the main road leading to Manali city. A road trip should be as pleasant and enjoyable as that of manali. You can opt for self-drive to reach manali , or hire a taxi. Provides Aadhaar for people coming from Delhi and Chandigarh from long distances. There are many agencies that give you vehicles on rent for manali  and which you can find in Delhi and Chandigarh. In addition, there are daily buses from Kashmeri Gate ISBT in Delhi to manali. You can also come here and book Volvo special buses, most of which are semi-sleeper, which cost around Rs.1000 to Rs.1500 per seat. There are.
